Gallant, Blue Schooner Company. History and specifications.

History

Gallant entered the Blue Schooner Company’s fleet in November 2017. She was originally a Herring logger named Jannetje Margaretha, built 1916 in Figee brothers’ yard in Vlaardingen, the Netherlands. During her long carrier, she lived different lives.

In 1926 she was sold to a Danish shipowner, a propulsion engine was fitted in, and she was used as a cargo ship under the name of Gertrud.

In 1987 she was bought and thoroughly restored by the foundation « Zeilschip De Gallant », a work experience project for youngsters, to be able to sail with trainees.

The refit ended in 1993, then Gallant proudly sailed again in the North European waters, participating to numerous events with guests and trainees onboard.

Today, Gallant sails with cargo, and can accomodate anyone who loves to live and share authentic and meaningful experiences.
