Gallant
Cargo Schooner

Sail Cargo

The time has come to act against climate change and for every one of us to work, at our own level, for a sustainable development.

Let’s sail by the power of wind

The Blue Schooner company has chartered the cargo Schooner, Gallant, since November 2017. It was built in vlaardingen (Netherlands) at the Figee brothers’ construction site and launched in 1916 under the name of Jannetje Margaretha. Originally a herring logger fishing boat, this ship has had many careers.

After being sold to a danish shipowner in 1926, a propulsion motor was then installed on it, and the ship started its life as a coaster under the name of Gertrud.

It was in 1987 that the « Zeilship De Gallant » foundation bought the ship, and, in the context of a project training young people in Amsterdam, restored it completely.

From 1993 onwards, Gallant has navigated the North Sea, the Baltic Sea, and the English Channel, embarking passengers and also as a sailing school.

Today, Gallant offers a sailing transportation service, while giving to people wishing to live an authentic, human adventure a chance to embark on board.

A clean transport

We strive for clean transport : with exception of port manoeuvres, we
do not use fossil fuels ! Our electricity is supplied by solar panels.
The company structure we have chosen corresponds to the changes that have taken place in society. Our means of transport does not produce any emissions that could cause harm to the planet and we only import goods that can not be produced locally.
By selecting ports by their appropriate sizes, we are able to provide a humanized direct relation between producers and consumers. The ports we call in give us the chance to bring additional life to isolated communities and allow local projects to develop.
